Clarinetist, Dean LeBlanc, has been performing with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra as an Associate Musician since 1998, performing over 2000 performances at the Met. He has also performed frequently with New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Bavarian State Opera Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Mostly Mozart Festival, Santa Fe Opera, New Jersey Symphony, American Symphony Orchestra, American Ballet Theatre, Stamford Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and the Arizona Music Festival to name a few. As a chamber musician, Dean has performed with the MET Chamber Ensemble, Skaneateles Festival, Windham Festival, the New York Chamber Music Festival, and the New York Philharmonic’s CONTACT! Series. He has also played several shows on Broadway including Beauty and the Beast, Les Misérables (2005 & 2015 productions), Swan Lake, Into the Woods, South Pacific, and Phantom of the Opera.
Dean has recorded for Decca, Atlantic, Telarc, New World Records, and EMI labels as well as for numerous major motion picture soundtracks including the Emmy Award Winning HBO Miniseries Mildred Pierce and the Oscar Winning Films True Grit and Joker. He can be heard on many HD telecasts and Live from Lincoln Center performances including the Grammy Award winning recordings of Wagner’s complete Ring Cycle and The Tempest for which he played principal clarinet.
Mr. LeBlanc has taught as a guest professor at Manhattan School of Music, Mannes College, Rutgers University, New York University, and serves on the Adjunct Faculty of the Juilliard School. He has been a Selmer performing artist since 2002.
